It was created in 1957 in Żarnowiec. It is located in a historic manor house from the 18th century, rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. The surrounding area is a historic park with an area of ​​over 3 hectares. The square was created on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Maria Konopnicka's writing work. Manor house once inhabited by a writer. She spent spring and summer months here, conducted extensive social and writing activities. From 1910 to 1956 he remained in the possession of her family. Daughters of the poet: Zofia Mickiewiczowa and Laura Pytlińska stayed here. The museum in Żarnowiec is intended to store cultural assets of the outstanding poet and writer, including monuments and documentary materials, in the field of Polish literature, art and history. It also conducts scientific, cultural and educational activities.
