Kamieniec Castle is a defensive stronghold from the fourteenth century, located on a rocky hill, on the edge of the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park, is one of the most beautiful examples of combining buildings with the landscape. The Gothic building was erected on a rock, at an altitude of 452 m above sea level. Its irregular form was the result of the terrain on which it was built. At the time of Casimir the Great, it was a typical border fortified castle. At present, the part from which the ogival portal and the eastern wall with the recess remained are called "high" ("higher") or "odrzykoński". His task was to defend the trade route from Poland to Hungary through the Dukiel Pass. The lower castle ("Korczyński") is the effect of expansion in the east from 1448. At the same time, the construction of a rectangular tower and a moat surrounding the entire castle was completed. The rooms in the tower were designated as an armory and a prison. The resulting courtyard called the Korczyński outer bailey was separated from the high castle by a border wall (in connection with the division of property). The chapel and the well were common to both parts. The expansion of the castle enriched it with buildings in the Renaissance style.
