The reserve is a natural habitat of the Pontic azalea (yellow rhododendron), the only one in Europe, except Volhynia and Polesie. Flowers during the flowering take on a golden color, which especially in May gives this environment an unusual charm and attracts many tourists to this area. The Kołacznia Reserve is the smallest reserve in terms of area in Poland.
