Address: Bożnicza 4 , 35-064 Rzeszów

The building is located in Rzeszów at ulica Bożnicza 4. Currently it is one of the oldest preserved synagogues in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Once it was also called the '' Old School '' or '' Small '', due to its small size, compared to the larger synagogue located nearby. The synagogue was built in 1610. It was destroyed twice during fires, after which it was rebuilt again. After the second restoration, it obtained two annexes from the west and south. Only one has survived to this day. During World War II, the building was completely devastated by the Nazis. After the war, the synagogue was interested in the Museum of the City of Rzeszów, which planned to arrange the exhibition halls inside the synagogue. However, due to the lack of response from the Jewish Committee in Krakow, these plans were not implemented. From 1946 to 1947, the synagogue was robbed, while in March 1947 a gale collapsed the roof and broke the vaults, making the synagogue slowly fall into ruin. After these damages, the City Council undertook to restore the building again. In 1949, the synagogue was intended for the Association of Polish Artists, which was to renovate the synagogue and secure the New Town synagogue next to it. In 1951, due to the lack of actions taken to renovate the synagogue, by decision of the Provincial National Council the building was taken from the union and transferred to the seat of the Provincial State Archives. In the years 1953-1963 the synagogue was thoroughly restored. The current owner of the synagogue is the Jewish Religious Community in Krakow, and the tenant - an archive that does not make the interiors available to visitors. The archive also houses the Jewish History Research Center, which collects, protects, stores and develops archive materials on Jewish subjects. On the wall of the synagogue there is a commemorative plaque dedicated to Jews murdered during the Holocaust, containing the text: "Let me mourn the dead, daughters of my people day and night" Originally the building was built of stones and bricks. Built on a square plan, in the Renaissance style. Currently, the synagogue is a monument of historical value. She was entered into the national register of immovable monuments under number 1157 on March 25, 1987.
