Address: plac Jana III Sobieskiego 16 , Łańcut
The synagogue in Łańcut at Zamkowa Street was built in 1761. Its construction was financed by the main rotor of Jews in Łańcut, Stanisław Lubomirski. It is an eastern type synagogue with wonderful decorations inside. During World War II it was set on fire by the Nazis, but it survived thanks to the requests of the owner of the castle, Alfred Potocki, to put out the fire. In the vestibule of the synagogue, matzevot were collected after the war from the two Jewish cemeteries destroyed by the Germans in Łańcut, which are examples of typical stonework ornamentation and symbolism. On the right is a small prayer room, the Lublin, formerly serving at the meetings of the rabbinical court. The main hall of the synagogue has a quartet plan with an architectural bimah in the middle. On the east is Aron ha-Kodesz - a niche that once housed a wardrobe for storing Torah scrolls. The interior of the hall is surrounded by a Syrian cornice, which separates the lower part of the walls rising slightly above the door and the altar recess. It is thick, richly profiled and colorful. Above the cornice there are arcades filled with painted texts of Hebrew prayers planned for the next holidays.
